Tithe Barn
The Tithe Barn is a Grade II* listed barn set in the heart of Abergavenny and dates back to the 12th Century. It was acquired by the St. Mary’s Priory Development Trust in 1999. At that time the barn was structurally unsound and in danger of collapse. Emergency works were carried out to stabilise and preserve the structure in 2001.
Following many years of fund raising and supported by the heritage lottery fund, CADW and Monmouthshire County Council the barn was converted to provide a Heritage Centre with food hall, shop, education and exhibition areas. Completed in October 2008 the building was opened by HRM Prince of Wales and has won a local award for its conservation.
